The B.S. in computer science is one of the options students have when looking into a computer science degree from Bucknell University. The program for computer science is one of the oldest in the country, dating back to the 1950s. In this program, students will be able to not only explore the field of computer science, there is also a lot of focus on science and mathematics. This will enable students to enter into the workforce with a solid understanding that goes beyond things like computer programming and understanding complex software. All computer science students will have access to some of the most modern technology in the eastern United States thanks to the number of state of the art labs that are available to students. In addition, all computer science students will complete a “common core” program that features required classes, no matter what degree you choose.

Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science

Students will also have the option of a B.A. in computer science when studying at Bucknell University. Students who take on the B.A. route at Bucknell will have a very similar experience as those who choose the B.S. as they are also required to take the “common core” classes. The difference in this program and the B.S. program is that science and mathematics is not as heavily emphasized in the curriculum. Instead, students in this program will take a majority of computer science courses, but have more liberal arts courses than those who have chosen the B.S. track. Upon graduation, students will be fully prepared to enter into the workplace. Most graduates with a B.A. in computer science go on to work in the business field working for private companies, public organizations and non-profits. Accreditation
