Students learn both general and specific purpose programming. Topics covered include algorithms, networks, performance analysis, information systems, computer architecture and systems engineering. Graduates of the program will be prepared to pursue a variety of computer science careers or to continue their studies at the graduate level.

Master of Science in Computer Science

With courses that explore the theoretical framework and the practical applications of computer science at an advanced level, the Master of Science in Computer Science degree program at Eastern Washington University offers student three paths to attaining this 49-credit master’s degree. All students must complete 24 credits of core coursework covering subjects like database systems, software engineering, algorithms, research methods and operating systems. They must also earn 16 credits in appropriate electives; this requirement allows students to target their studies toward their individual areas of interest. For the final component of their degree program, students choose one of three eight-credit options. They may complete a thesis, a project or a workplace project. With a proud history that stretches back to 1890, Washington State University is the state’s original land-grant university.
