Technology is an ever-changing field, and it is important for professionals to keep up with the latest trends. New technologies are constantly changing how people use technology in their daily lives and technology professionals need to keep up with the new trends to support them. There are plenty of places one could go to get information about the latest trends and many ways to read them. The most important thing is that as a technology professional, one  reads regularly and keeps up with the newest tech trends. The tool one uses to keep read and track trends doesn’t matter, it could be a sophisticated feed reader like Feedly or Flipboard, or could be as simple as following sources on  Twitter. The important thing is following the trends and reading them!

For those who are recently out of school or looking for jobs, it is just as important if not more important to keep on top of the recent trends. It is common practice now to ask candidates in interview about current technology trends and or how they keep up with technology news. Employers want their technology employees to be aware of the latest trends so they are knowledgeable of them if they are hired. So before any interview, make sure one is aware of the major technology news and current events.

Below are a list of some of the best news sources that I have found useful keeping up with the  latest tech trends. They are a combination of written news sources as wells as audio and video podcasts. For my written sources I use Feedly as my news reader which is similar to the late, great Google Reader and provides a river of news that is synced across all devices. Another very popular, very well designed reader is Flipboard which turns one’s news sources into a digital magazine.
